April 11-The only new and exciting thing that happened today was that Shan got to participate in the soup lunch cooked and served in the faculty/staff lounge. Our friends Emma and Pálmar made a wonderful fish soup and invited Shan to partake. Sally still wants to watch someone make the stock for the traditional Icelandic soups because the end result is divine. Unfortunately, everyone that cooks the soup makes the stock at home the night before and just brings in the pot half full and spends the morning putting in the additional ingredients.
Shan and Sally also went back to yoga after take a few weeks off because of visiting family. It was great to get back into the swing of things. There were only five of us in the class today, so Sigrún decided to talk all in English for our benefit. She normally speaks about 50% Icelandic and 50% English. This class has definitely helped us count backwards from 10 in Icelandic and know the words for left and right (not that Sally could tell you which way is left or right). Sigrún even translates some of the humorous comments made in Icelandic during the class. This is one activity both Shan and Sally will miss once we return to Gunnison. Hopefully, we will be able to find a comparable replacement.
